The Role
The Regional Humanitarian Coordinator will provide technical advice, support, capacity development and leadership in the Pacific region to ensure that Oxfam and its partners, are both ready and able to respond in a timely and professionally competent manner to humanitarian emergencies.
This position will lead on humanitarian response and preparedness in the Pacific region, and will provide leadership to support all aspects of preparedness planning, action and systematic review at country and regional level.
Selection Criteria
The successful candidate will have the following:
· Extensive experience of managing and/or coordinating humanitarian response work in a range of environments – including field-level management of complex humanitarian response programs and all phases of the program cycle
· Demonstrable skills in gender analysis in humanitarian response or preparedness programing, and a clear understanding of the practical significance of gender issues in humanitarian environment
· Experience of identifying training needs and coordinating training implementation and a clear ability to transfer knowledge to others
· Demonstrated facilitation, coaching and capacity development skills
· Training in Disasters Preparedness/Emergency Response
